What is Fractional Laser?

Fractional lasers work by delivering multiple deep rays of randomized microscopic laser beams to the skin. This produces deep skin rejuvenation, superior collagen remodelling, and elastin regeneration. What makes this laser treatment so popular is that there are noticeable clinical improvements but with less downtime than treatments usually associated with this level of rejuvenation. It penetrates down to the reticular dermis (deep dermis) without damaging the surrounding tissues.

What to Expect

Topical Numbing Cream: Yes, 30 minutes before treatment to minimize discomfort

Sensation: Heat to intense heat

Side Effects: Redness, sensitivity & swelling but depends on the depth of treatment and individual tolerance levels. Usually resolves between 24-48 hours. Peeling can occur 3 days post-laser

Caution: Requires an experienced laser operator

Post-Fractional Laser Tips

• Use a mild cleanser and hydrating products as the skin will be dry
• Avoid heat-inducing exercise until all redness & swelling have resolved
• Do not suppress the heat if possible as this helps with collagen regeneration
• If the skin is uncomfortably hot, use a cold compress
• Dryness due to a temporarily disrupted skin barrier can be minimized by using a rich post-peel skin barrier repair cream until the barrier normalises
• No active ingredients like Retinol or AHAs for at least 5-7 days post-treatment
• Use a melanin-inhibiting product if you are prone to pigmentation
• Avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week after the peel and use a high-factor, broad-spectrum sunscreen
