Glowing skin refers to skin that appears healthy, radiant, and luminous. It has a natural, dewy, and youthful appearance. Glowing skin is often associated with good overall skin health and is characterised by factors such as a smooth and even complexion, a hydrated and plump appearance, and a natural glow or radiance.

With the correct skincare routine, which includes regular gentle exfoliation, active ingredient products and resurfacing treatments, the desired glow, and optimum skin health can be achieved.

​​Exfoliators can be divided into two categories:

Physical Exfoliators

These include professional-grade crystals, ground oatmeal, and jojoba wax microbeads. All plastic microbeads should be avoided as they pollute our planet.

Chemical Exfoliators

These have a keratolytic action (shedding) which gently breaks down the dead layer of skin and increases cellular turnover. These include enzymes like Papain/Papaya, Cathepzyme, Hydroxy Acids: AHAs (eg Glycolic acid), BHAs (eg Salicylic acid), PHAs (eg Gluconolactone), Hydroxyethyl Urea/Aminosulfonic Acid and Retinoids.

Treatment tips when trying to get your glow

• Use ingredients that stimulate cellular turnover and remove the dry dead layer on the skin’s surface
• Too much scrubbing or vigorous massaging can disrupt the skin barrier and cause sensitivity
• A great way to add more lustre and radiance after exfoliating is to use a hydrating, replenishing mask
