It is always exciting to introduce a new product range into Dermastore® and the Obagi-C  System is one such range.

Obagi has introduced three new products from this range into the South African market. What makes them so unique is that they contain a blend of tried and tested active ingredients for younger skins, to address early signs of ageing and hyperpigmentation. This is usually caused by extrinsic factors such as excessive sun exposure which can lead to structural changes in the skin. If left untreated can result in more advanced photo-damage as you age.

The key ingredient in the Obagi-C System is Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) which protects while addressing early signs of skin ageing or what we call early photo-damage.

Signs of early ageing generally include superficial fine lines, mild to moderate hyperpigmentation, mild textural changes and a dull skin tone. There is usually minimal skin laxity at this stage so targeted topical ingredients can make a real and lasting difference to the skin. Early intervention can both correct current skin ageing concerns and prevent future photodamage.

One defining feature of Obagi’s L-Ascorbic Acid formulations is that they have low pH levels which helps to promote more efficient penetration of ingredients into the layers of the skin, thereby enhancing absorption. The low pH also improves stability and lengthens the shelf life of the product.

The three products in the range:

Obagi-C System Clarifying Serum

This is a humectant-based antioxidant which is used in the morning under the day lotion. It contains L-ascorbic acid and Arbutin to reduce the appearance of superficial brown marks, giving the skin a lighter and brighter complexion.

Obagi-C System Exfoliating Day Lotion

This a moisturising lotion used in the morning over the Clarifying Serum. It is a smooth, lightweight moisturiser that both hydrates and gently exfoliates the skin. It contains a blend of Glycolic Acid, Arginine, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E.

Obagi-C System Therapy Night Cream

This night cream can be used either as a spot treatment on affected areas or over the whole face. While you sleep a powerful blend of L-Ascorbic Acid, Arbutin, and Vitamin E helps to gradually diminish brown marks and correct signs of photo-ageing.

Who can use the Obagi-C System?

• Younger clients who would like to correct early signs of skin ageing while preventing future skin damage. You can start using these products from your 20s
• Men will love the simplicity of this 3 product regimen
• Those with mild to moderate hyperpigmentation who have used stronger formulations such as the Obagi Nu-Derm system to correct this condition and would now like to maintain the results
• Clients who are at risk of developing hyperpigmentation, especially during the summer months. Used together with a high-factor, broad-spectrum sunscreen every day these products will protect the skin from future photo-damage
• Obagi-C Fx Clarifying Serum is a great product to use after peels, laser treatments and Dermapen as it contains Vitamin C and Arbutin, which inhibits melanin production thereby lessening the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
• Those with adult acne who are prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
• Those wanting a tailored regimen that is unique to their skin concerns. These products are what we call ‘plug-in’ products that can enhance your existing skincare products. They can be used with any of the Obagi cleansers, toners and their sunscreen
