Azelaic Acid is a type of dicarboxylic acid that is found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley. It is also produced by Malassezia furfur, a yeast that is present on normal skin. This versatile ingredient has various actions such as keratolytic, comedolytic, anti-inflammatory and tyrosinase inhibitor. It helps to reduce inflammation in mild to moderate acne, and its keratolytic action exfoliates the skin, preventing comedone formation.
