Infants under the age of 3 months should be kept out of direct sunlight and sunscreens should not be used. After 3 months, there are baby specific formulas available and manufacturers will often use fewer chemical filters and rather favour mineral or physical filters. Good quality sunscreens for children are also formulated with a minimalist approach considering a child’s skin can be more sensitive than adults. We generally recommend European brands because they undergo intensive clinical-trials under strict EU regulations.
