Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a major fat-soluble antioxidant found in our skin and is essential for protecting cells from free radicals that damage collagen and cause premature ageing. Existing as a family of molecules including Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta Tocopherols, Alpha-tocopherol is the most active and beneficial for skin health, while the ester derivative Tocopheryl Acetate is also commonly found in skincare products. Both are potent antioxidants that protect against environmental stressors and enhance sunscreen efficacy. They also help hydrate, condition, and reduce inflammation in the skin, strengthening the skin barrier, assisting with lipid balance, and preventing transepidermal water loss. Combining Vitamin E with Vitamin C can also provide synergistic benefits, offering broad-spectrum protection while enhancing each other’s effectiveness.
